Hard to believe we are already half way through our 2015 gardening season. The garden got off to a great start this year with the completion of the fence and gates around the main garden to keep the critters out. That has been a huge improvement over last year. This years crops include corn, beans, egg plant, kale, basil, carrots, cucumbers, tomatoes, potatoes, squash, and watermelon. We also planted asparagus which we will begin to harvest in 2016 or 2017 depending on how well/quickly it develops its base of roots. We had planted winter rye at the end of last year and that made for a wonderful natural fertilizer which was tilled under in the spring. Produce is starting to be harvested and taken to the pantries as it becomes available. The very wet conditions of the past three weeks has slowed the growth of many of our plants so hopefully we can now get things moving again.
Please check out our wish list and our work schedule. We can use help in many different ways so let us know if you are able to help out.
The following photos are from early spring up to this past week and show the progress of the garden so far this year.
