Five volunteers from the Lake Lehman Key Club were a big help in getting the tomato beds ready for planting. Irrigation lines were placed in the rows as well as a good coating of compost. Then the rows were covered with black garden cloth with holes for the tomato plants. After fastening the cloth to the ground, stakes were set in the ground which will hold fencing material to tie the plants to as they grow. Thank you Key Club Members.
Lehman Township delivered a nice pile of compost from the DAMA composting facility in Lehman. This will really help improve the organic content of our garden soil. Thank you Lehman Township and DAMA.
One of our Master Gardeners joined a group from Step-By-Step and planted a huge row of green beans today. There are about 450 holes in the row cover material. Each one will be a green bean plant in the coming weeks. The group also took care of some weeds and watering.
