The garden was very wet in 2018 but we still managed to provide 1,800 pounds of fresh produce to our local food pantries!!
Crops this year included tomatoes, potatoes, beans, squash, peppers, asparagus, beets, cabbage, cucumbers, and onions.
We had a fantastic group of dedicated volunteers in 2018 that were responsible for the great harvest. Many hours were invested in the preparation of the garden, planting the crops, watering and weeding, tying up tomato plants, lawn mowing, harvesting and washing, and lots of other tasks.
We had three Lake Lehman Seniors helping at the garden this year and two Eagle Scout Projects were completed over the summer and fall. I really appreciate these fine young people helping us out at the garden.
Special thanks to Mandy Newman for all of her help in coordination the volunteers as well as her time spent at the garden.
It’s almost time to kick things in gear for 2019. We will have a planning meeting in February to get things started. I am looking forward to another great year at the garden.
